Revival RSC is RuneScape Classic as you remember it, with the rough edges taken off. Experience comes five times faster, there is no fatigue, skills repeat by themselves, and a fee-free auction house, ironman modes and private boss instances have all been added – without changing the heart of the original game. This page summarises everything that is different, with links to the full guides.

At a glance

[edit]

Guides

[edit]
  • Auction house – buying and selling with other players, even while they are offline
  • Ironman – the three self-sufficient game modes and their rules
  • Batched skilling – how repeated actions work and what interrupts them
  • Settings and social – announcements, global chat, the online list and every option in the settings menu
  • Clans – clans and parties

Experience and accounts

[edit]
  • Experience is five times the original rate for both combat and skilling, and quest rewards are multiplied too. There is no bonus for training in the Wilderness.
  • Fatigue is switched off. General stores no longer sell sleeping bags.
  • Multi-logging – up to 4 characters can be logged in from the same connection at once. A fifth login is refused. Type ::mppi to check the limit.
  • New accounts are created in the game client, and the tutorial can be skipped by talking to Peter Skippin on Tutorial Island.
  • The maximum level in every skill is 99.

Freezing your experience

[edit]

Because there is no fatigue, sleeping in a bed now toggles your experience gain off and on: "You have DISABLED experience gain!". While it is off you gain no experience at all, which is useful for keeping a combat level or a pure build. Sleep in a bed again to switch it back on.

Quest rewards earned while your experience is frozen are not lost. They are saved as experience scrolls, which you can Reclaim after unfreezing.

Banking

[edit]
  • The bank has a custom interface with swap and insert modes, and room for every item in the game.
  • Bank notes – withdraw items as tradeable notes. Old-style certificates are shown as notes, and both can be deposited straight into the bank.
  • Right-click a banker to open your bank without talking, or type ::b while standing in a bank.
  • Bank presets save an inventory and equipment layout for one-click withdrawal.
  • Bank PINs are optional and are set by talking to a banker.
  • Right-click shopkeepers to trade without the conversation.
  • Drop X lets you drop a chosen amount of a stackable item.

Bosses

[edit]

See Enemies and NPCs for the bosses themselves.

Private instances

[edit]

With the Boss instances slayer unlock (100 points), the lever into a boss's lair offers a private instance – your own copy of the boss for one hour.

Boss Cost
King Black Dragon 25,000 coins
Nyrex the infernal 50,000 coins
Enraged shadow giant 75,000 coins
Valkor 200,000 coins, for up to 3 players. No slayer unlock is needed.
  • Drops inside an instance are visible only to you, and bosses respawn faster than in the open world.
  • You can leave and rejoin while the timer runs. A warning appears with 5 minutes left, after which no more bosses spawn.
  • You can only have one instance at a time. Creating a new one ends the old one, and anything left on the ground inside it is lost.
  • Wearing a boss's own cape cuts its instance cost by 25%, 50% or 75%, and any combined boss cape makes every instance cost 1,000 coins.
  • Typing ::timeleft will tell you how long your instance has left.

Boss panel

[edit]

Type ::bosses to open a window with your fastest kill times, kill counts and progress towards the boss capes. ::kt followed by a boss name shows your best time for that boss, and adding chat says it out loud.

Bad luck mitigation

[edit]

The dragon 2-handed sword becomes steadily more likely the longer you go without one. After 2,000 King Black Dragon kills without the drop your chance starts to rise, climbing steeply with every further 500 kills until it is close to certain at 5,000. The counter resets when the sword drops.

Boss pets

[edit]

Each boss can drop an item that unlocks a miniature version of itself as a follower – see Giant scale, Possessed blood vial, Cracked rune and Tainted beard hair.

Combat

[edit]
  • Aggressive monsters attack from 4 tiles away rather than 1. The usual rule still applies that monsters ignore players of more than twice their level.
  • Monsters no longer run away when their health is low.
  • Players and monsters do not block each other's movement.
  • Poisoned weapons can poison monsters, not just players.
  • Monsters chase you around obstacles more intelligently.
  • A Valuable drop message and the rare drop sound mark notable drops – see sound rare drop.
  • ::kc followed by a monster's name shows how many you have killed.

Potions

[edit]
  • Decanting by hand – use two potions of the same type on each other to combine their doses.
  • Remdor in Taverley turns every 1 and 2 dose potion you are carrying into noted 3-dose potions, free of charge. He keeps the spare empty vials as payment.
  • The Apothecary in Varrock will empty potions, fill vials with water and make strength potions in bulk, for a fee.
  • Many new potions have been added – see Herblaw.

New places and services

[edit]
Place What it offers
Woodcutting Guild McGrubor's Wood, north of Ardougne, is now a guild with yew and magic trees and a bank chest. The Forester at the gate charges a 1,000 coin toll on every entry and requires level 55 Woodcutting – below that he keeps your coins and still turns you away. McGrubor's chest costs 1,000 coins per use, and his guard dogs are not friendly.
Scot Ruth's tunnel Scot Ruth sells permanent access to his tunnel for a one-off 200,000 coins. It is a one-way shortcut that comes out deep in the Wilderness, by the chaos altar.
Silicius on Entrana Blow glass vials while standing in his room and they are handed to you as bank notes, so a whole inventory of molten glass can be worked in one trip.
Slayer cave A dungeon of fire warriors, shadow giants and the Enraged shadow giant, unlocked with slayer points.
Lava cavern Beneath the Dwarven Mine, home of the lava forge – see Dwarf Youth Rescue.
Rune stone mine Reached by teleport from Sedridor or Aubury – see Runecraft.

Quality of life

[edit]
  • Number keys choose conversation and menu options, which are shown numbered.
  • Left-click to slash through spider webs.
  • Skill guides and a quest guide are built into the stats menu, with markers for quests you have started.
  • Unidentified herbs show which herb they are in their name, and many items and objects have clearer names.
  • Piles of items on the ground show their real amounts.
  • The game window can be resized, and the PC client can be scaled up.
  • Player names and clan tags can be shown above heads.
  • Better logs give more arrow shafts: 10 from ordinary logs, rising by 5 per tier to 35 from magic logs.
  • Joining the halves of a crystal key gives Crafting experience.
  • Smithing, crafting and jewellery menus skip straight to the item when there is only one thing you could be making.
  • Locked quest areas stay accessible, and quest items can be retrieved, after their quests are finished.
  • A long list of settings controls roofs, fog, experience drops, kill counters and more.
