Ironman

From Revival RSC Wiki

An Ironman is an account that plays entirely self-sufficiently: no trading, no auction house and no picking up other players' items. Revival RSC has three ironman modes, chosen on Tutorial Island, and each comes with its own free set of armour.

The modes

[edit]
Mode Rules
Ironman Cannot trade, duel, use the auction house, join a party, take items dropped by other players or receive loot from player kills.
Hardcore Ironman All of the Ironman rules, with only one life. Dying turns the account into a standard Ironman.
Ultimate Ironman All of the Ironman rules, and in addition cannot use banks and keeps nothing on death.

Becoming an Ironman

[edit]

Ironman mode can only be chosen on Tutorial Island. Talk to the Ironman standing at the very start of the island, beside the first guide, and choose "I'd like to change my Ironman mode.". The Ironman Setup window opens, where you can tick Standard, Hardcore or Ultimate Ironman – or None. While you are on the island you can change your mind as often as you like.

Once you leave Tutorial Island the choice is locked in: an account can never become an ironman, or move up to a stricter mode, afterwards. If you want an ironman, make the decision before you leave – including before using Peter Skippin to skip the tutorial.

Deactivation settings

[edit]

The same window has a Deactivation settings box, which decides whether the mode can ever be removed. It too can only be changed on Tutorial Island.

Setting Meaning
Permanent The ironman restrictions can never be removed. This is the default – if you never open this box, your ironman is permanent.
PIN You can later ask for the restrictions to be removed, or reduced, by entering your bank PIN. Choosing this requires you to set a bank PIN, which the Ironman will help you do.

Restrictions

[edit]

All three modes share these rules.

Activity What happens
Trading Blocked in both directions: "You are an Ironman. You stand alone."
Dueling and staking Blocked
Auction house Blocked: "As an Ironman, you cannot use the Auction."
Shops You can buy a shop's normal stock, but not anything that is over-stocked. In practice this means you cannot buy items that other players have sold to the shop. Selling to shops is allowed.
Items on the ground You cannot take items that other players have dropped, including with Telekinetic Grab. Items that spawn in the world are fine.
Player kills You receive no loot from players you kill – their items stay theirs.
Monster drops A drop belongs to whoever dealt the most damage. If another player out-damages you on a monster, the drop is theirs and you cannot take it. If you dealt the most, it is yours even if others helped.
Your own death Items you lose when a monster kills you can be picked up again by you.
Parties You cannot create, join or be invited to a party
Gifts Other players cannot pull crackers with you, use presents on you, pass you the gnome ball or hand you quest items such as the Shield of Arrav pieces

What ironmen can still do

[edit]
  • Join a clan and use clan chat and global chat
  • Fight bosses, including in private instances. Valkor gives every qualifying player their own drop, so ironmen keep theirs even in a group.
  • Pick up holiday drops scattered by staff during events
  • Pull a cracker by using it on a Banker, who pulls it with you, and open presents themselves

Hardcore Ironman

[edit]

A Hardcore Ironman has a single life. Any death – to a monster or to another player, anywhere in the world – turns the account into a standard Ironman. There are no safe areas. Afterwards the account can no longer wear the hardcore armour.

The one exception is the death used by Peter Skippin to send new players to Lumbridge, which does not count. For hardcore ironmen he simply skips the tutorial without harming them.

Dying as a hardcore ironman always downgrades the account, even if your deactivation setting is Permanent.

Ultimate Ironman

[edit]

An Ultimate Ironman can never use a bank: "As an Ultimate Ironman, you cannot use the bank." This covers bankers, bank chests and collecting from the auction house.

  • On death you keep nothing. The usual three most valuable items are not kept, and the Protect Items prayer cannot be switched on.
  • To make life without a bank possible, ultimate ironmen can turn items into bank notes by using an item on the matching certificate trader, and turn notes back into items in batches of 1, 2, 5, 10 or 25.
  • The herb bag, gem bag, rune bag and slayer bag all work as normal and are well worth having.

Downgrading

[edit]

If your deactivation setting is PIN, you can move downwards: from Hardcore or Ultimate to a standard Ironman, or from any mode to a normal account. You can never move upwards.

  1. Talk to any of the three Ironmen in Lumbridge and choose "I'd like to review my Ironman mode.".
  2. Click the mode you want to move to.
  3. Enter your bank PIN and confirm. There is no cost.

If your setting is Permanent you are told "Your Ironman status is permanent and cannot be changed."

Ironman armour

[edit]

Each mode has its own free, untradeable armour in its own colours: a helm, a platebody or plate top, and platelegs or a plated skirt. It can only be worn by an account of the matching mode.

The three Ironmen stand in a row in Lumbridge, right where new and returning players arrive. Ask "Have you any armour for me, please?", or right-click and choose Armour. They hand over whichever pieces you are missing from both your inventory and your bank, and let you choose between legs and a skirt. If you lose a piece, just ask again. Thrander in Varrock will swap a platebody for a plate top, or legs for a skirt.

The Ironman on Tutorial Island will not give out armour – collect it once you reach Lumbridge.

Hiscores

[edit]

The hiscores on the website have separate lists for Ironman, Hardcore Ironman and Ultimate Ironman accounts.
