This page covers what is new for the melee combat skills – Attack, Strength, Defense and Hits – in Revival RSC. See also Magic, Ranged and Prayer.

This page covers what is new or different in Revival RSC. Everything else about the skill works as it did in the original RuneScape Classic.

How monsters behave

[edit]
  • Aggressive monsters notice you from 4 tiles away rather than 1. They still ignore players of more than twice their level.
  • Monsters never run away when their health is low.
  • Neither monsters nor other players block your path.
  • Monsters chase you around obstacles more intelligently.
  • Poisoned daggers can poison monsters: each hit has a 1 in 50 chance. The new poisoned dragon dagger is included.

Combat capes

[edit]

The Attack, Strength and Defense skill capes each add a chance-based effect, and the combined boss capes carry all three at once.

Cape Effect
When an attack misses, 35% chance that it is re-rolled. "Your cape allows you to hit the enemy!"
When you hit for at least half your max hit, 35% chance of a critical that adds a further 20% of your max hit.
35% chance to halve the damage of an incoming melee hit. It also reduces dragonfire by 25%.
Food heals an extra 2, 4 or 6 hits, with an equal chance of each or of nothing extra.
Boss cape Chance of each effect Critical hit bonus Armour
30% 25% of max hit +3
35% 32.5% of max hit +4
40% 37.5% of max hit +6
42.5% 45% of max hit +9

Socketed dragon weapons

[edit]

Thurvar can forge a socket into a dragon sword, dragon axe or dragon 2-handed sword, which then holds an enchanted slayer gem.

Gem Nascent Prime Elder Primordial
Power or Aim +2 +4 +7 +9
Prayer +2 +4 +6 +8
Sonic (aim, power and prayer) +3 each +5 each +8 aim and power, +7 prayer +10 aim and power, +9 prayer

Demon, Dragon and Giant gems instead give +24 aim and +24 power while fighting that family of monster. Against the Enraged shadow giant, a Giant gem gives +2,100 aim – the only practical way to get through his 3,000 Defense.

Combat potions

[edit]
Potion Herblaw level Boost per dose
Super attack, strength and defense (original) - +5 and 15%
87 Attack +6 and 17%
89 Strength +6 and 17%
91 Defense +6 and 17%
98 Attack, Strength, Defense, Magic and Ranged +10 and 22%
81 Defense +1 and 20% and Hits +1 and 15%, but Attack, Strength, Ranged and Magic −1 and 10%

New equipment

[edit]
Item Notes
The strongest melee weapon, with 99 aim and 99 power. Dropped by the King Black Dragon.
60 aim and 60 power at level 50 Attack. It can be poisoned.
The best body armour: 95 armour with +10 aim and +6 power. It also absorbs 10% of dragonfire. See Dwarf Youth Rescue.
The best leg armour, dropped by the Enraged shadow giant.
The best helmet, dropped by Nyrex the infernal.
+12 aim, +15 power, +2 magic and +5 prayer – well beyond a dragonstone amulet for melee.

Dragonfire

[edit]

Protection from dragonfire now adds up across items when you fight a dragon in melee:

Item Dragonfire reduced by
Anti dragon breath shield 80%
25%
10%

The boss capes do not count as a Defense cape for this.

Rings

[edit]
  • Ring of recoil reflects a tenth of the damage you take, plus 1, back at the attacker – from melee, ranged or magic – until it has reflected 40 damage.
  • Ring of life teleports you to Lumbridge if a hit leaves you at 10% of your hitpoints or less, and then shatters. It does not work above level 30 Wilderness.

Hits and food

[edit]
  • Seaweed soup heals 26, more than any original food. Sharks, manta rays and sea turtles heal 20.
  • The new Life Sap prayer heals you for a fifth of the damage you deal.
  • Hitpoints and other stats regenerate a little faster than in the original game, because the game itself runs at a faster tick.
