Slayer is a custom skill found in the Revival Runescape Classic server. Slayer masters assign you a number of monsters to kill, and every monster killed on-task gives Slayer experience along with a chance at slayer-only drops. Completing tasks earns slayer points, which are spent on unlocks such as the slayer cave, gem enchanting and dragon weapon socketing.

Overview

[edit]

Slayer is trained by completing tasks given by one of nine slayer masters found around Runescape. Each master requires a higher Slayer level than the last, hands out tougher monsters and awards more points per completed task. While on a task, the assigned monsters can also drop energies and unenchanted gems. Energies are used to enchant gems, and enchanted gems can be set into a socketed dragon weapon to boost its stats.

Only kills of your currently assigned monster count. Killing the same monster without a task gives no Slayer experience and no slayer drops.

Getting started

[edit]

Speak to Draxel upstairs in Lumbridge castle and choose Get a slayer task. Every slayer master can also be left-clicked with the Get task option to skip the conversation. You can only hold one task at a time and must finish, cancel or reset it before receiving another.

Type ::slayer at any time to see how many monsters you have left, your current task streak and your slayer points.

Talking to any slayer master gives the following options:

  • Get a slayer task – assigns a new task from that master's list
  • View unlocks shop – permanent unlocks bought with points
  • View points shop – extend or reduce your task and buy teleport scrolls
  • Cancel my task – costs 30 points and keeps your streak
  • Reset streak and cancel task – free, but only available with fewer than 30 points
  • Sell gems – trade gems for Slayer experience or points
  • Blocked tasks – block or unblock a task
  • I like your cape – only at level 99, lets you buy the Slayer cape

Slayer masters

[edit]

Higher level masters give more points per task. You can use any master you have the level for.

Master Slayer level Points per task Location
Draxel 1 6 Lumbridge castle, upstairs near the Duke
Sir Wexley 10 7 Falador, near the park
Kalen 20 9 Al Kharid
Jonesy 30 11 Yanille, near the bank
Brother Darion 40 12 East Ardougne, near the castle
The Wise Seer 50 14 Seers Village, upstairs
Vorina 65 17 Zanaris
Commander Featherlite 75 20 Shilo Village, upstairs
Roman Swift 90 25 Outside the Legends Guild

Tasks

[edit]

Each task asks you to kill a random number of monsters within the range shown. Some tasks cover a whole family – for example giants of any type counts every kind of giant, and tougher monsters in the family give more experience per kill.

  • There is a 1 in 20 chance that the master lets you choose between two tasks instead of assigning one.
  • Tasks with a requirement are never assigned until you meet it.
  • The chance column is the base chance of each task from that master, before requirements and blocked tasks are taken into account.
  • Experience is shown per kill at the current server rate.

Slayer-only drops

[edit]

Monsters drop extra items while they are your current task. These drops are rolled on top of the monster's normal drops, and the energies and slayer gems cannot be obtained any other way – kill the same monster without a task and you will never see them.

Drop What it is for
Energies
The four energies – nascent, prime, elder and primordial – are used to enchant slayer gems. Almost every task monster drops at least one kind.
Unenchanted gems
Power, aim, prayer and sonic gems in four tiers, to be enchanted and set into a socketed dragon weapon.
Demon, Dragon and Giant gems
Very rare gems dropped by demons, dragons and giants, giving a large bonus against that family of monster.
Bags
The slayer bag, herb bag, gem bag and rune bag each store a whole category of items in one inventory slot. The herb, gem and rune bags are also rare ordinary drops from fire warriors and shadow giants.
Other supplies A few monsters also drop useful extras on-task, such as certificates, flax, unicorn horns and red spiders' eggs.

See Slayer drops for the full table of every slayer monster, what it drops on-task and how often.

Most monsters roll for a slayer drop on every second kill, while bosses roll on every kill. A ring of wealth has no effect on slayer drops.

Slayer points

[edit]

Completing a task awards the master's points value and increases your task streak by one. Every 10th and every 50th task completed in a row awards bonus points, so keeping a streak alive is the fastest way to earn points. Cancelling a task with points keeps your streak; resetting does not.

Spending points

[edit]
Option Cost Notes
Cancel task 30 points Removes your current task and keeps your streak.
Reset streak and cancel task Free Only available with fewer than 30 points. Your streak returns to zero, and you must complete a task before you can reset again.
Block task 150 points The task you currently have is never assigned again. One task can be blocked at a time; unblocking is free.
Extend task by 20% 30 points Adds 20% of the assigned amount. A task can be extended or reduced once, not both.
Reduce task by 20% 15 points Removes 20% of the assigned amount. A task can be extended or reduced once, not both.
Teleport scroll
25 points each Single-use teleport to the slayer cave entrance. Sold in lots of 1, 5, 10, 20 or as many as you can afford.

Points can also be earned by selling enchanted gems to a slayer master.

Unlocks

[edit]

Unlocks are bought once from any slayer master's unlocks shop and are permanent.

Unlock Cost What it does
Slayer cave 250 points Grants access to the slayer cave and adds fire warrior and shadow giant tasks.
Dragon weapon socketing
75 points Lets Thurvar forge sockets into your dragon weapons, and lets you set gems into them.
Nascent gems
50 points Enchant and use Nascent tier gems.
Prime gems
150 points Enchant and use Prime tier gems.
Elder gems
500 points Enchant and use Elder tier gems.
Primordial gems
1,500 points Enchant and use Primordial tier gems.
Demon gem enchantment
3,000 points Enchant and use Demon gems.
Dragon gem enchantment
3,000 points Enchant and use Dragon gems.
Giant gem enchantment
3,000 points Enchant and use Giant gems.
Ring of Avarice energy pickup 200 points Energies dropped on-task are picked up automatically while wearing a Ring of avarice.
Boss instances 100 points Boss arena levers gain the option to create a private one hour instance, for a fee. Bosses respawn slightly faster inside, the drops are only visible to you, and you can leave and rejoin while the timer runs. Only one instance can be active at a time – items left on the ground in an old instance are lost when a new one is created.

Energies

[edit]

Energies are stackable slayer-only drops used to enchant gems. They only drop from monsters you are assigned, and tougher monsters drop higher tiers. The boss tasks given by Roman Swift drop by far the most energy per kill. See Slayer drops for the exact rates from every monster.

Energy Examine Best regular on-task sources (average energies)
Nascent energy
Humming with newly-formed power Hellhound (56.5 per kill), Black Demon (53.2 per kill), Elder Moss Giant (38.5 per kill), Elder Ice Giant (28.2 per kill)
Prime energy
Potent energy from a world long forgotten Black Demon (18.6 per kill), Blue Dragon (11.1 per kill), Hellhound (9.9 per kill), Elder Moss Giant (9.6 per kill)
Elder energy
Tempered through countless eras Red Dragon (5.8 per kill), Blue Dragon (3.3 per kill), Hellhound (2.6 per kill), Elder Moss Giant (2.6 per kill)
Primordial energy
Forged from the dawn of Gielinor Hellhound (0.2 per kill), Greater Demon (0.1 per kill), Lesser Demon (1 per 13 kills), Paladin (1 per 13 kills)

The Slayer bag is a rare on-task drop that stores your energies and slayer gems in a single inventory slot.

Slayer bag

Slayer gems

[edit]

Unenchanted gems drop from monsters on-task. On their own they can only be sold for experience; once enchanted with energies they can be set into a socketed dragon weapon or sold for points.

  • Power gems raise the weapon's power bonus, Aim gems raise its aim bonus and Prayer gems raise its prayer bonus.
  • Sonic gems combine aim and power in one gem.
  • Demon, Dragon and Giant gems give a large boost against one family of monsters.

Enchanting gems

Socketing

[edit]

Thurvar, an Imcando dwarf found in Barbarian Village, can forge a socket into a dragon weapon. A socketed weapon holds one enchanted gem.

Forging a socket

[edit]

You need the Dragon weapon socketing unlock, level 10 Slayer and the following items:

Item Notes
Dragon sword, dragon axe or Dragon 2-handed sword
The weapon to be socketed
1 gold bar
Used for the binding
3 redberry pies
To steady the hand
Thurvar's enchanted hammer
Dropped by the goblin thief just south of Barbarian Village. You keep the hammer afterwards.

Below level 61 Slayer there is a chance that the weapon shatters and is lost along with the gold bar and pies. Thurvar warns you and asks for confirmation first.

Setting a gem

[edit]

With a regular hammer and chisel in your inventory, use an enchanted gem on the empty socketed weapon. You need the gem's tier unlock and the Slayer level below. This step cannot fail.

Removing gems and sockets

[edit]

Thurvar can also undo his work:

  • Remove a socketed gem – needs 3 redberry pies, the enchanted hammer and
    Thurvar's enchanted chisel
, which is also dropped by the goblin thief. The gem is returned undamaged.
  • Remove an empty socket – needs 3 redberry pies and the enchanted hammer, and returns the original weapon. Like forging, this can shatter the weapon below level 61 Slayer.

Monster gems

[edit]

A weapon set with a Demon, Dragon or Giant gem gives +24 aim and +24 power while fighting a monster of that family. The boost appears when you attack and fades when the fight ends.

Gem Works against
Demon gem
Imp, Burnt Imp, Lesser Demon, Greater Demon, Black Demon, Nyrex the infernal
Dragon gem
Dragon, Blue Dragon, Red Dragon, Baby Blue Dragon, Black Dragon, King Black Dragon, Green dragon
Giant gem
Giant, Moss Giant, Ice Giant, Fire Giant, Shadow Giant, Elder Ice Giant, Elder Moss Giant, Enraged shadow giant

The Enraged shadow giant has 3,000 defence and is practically immune to normal weapons. Against it a Giant gem weapon instead grants +2,100 aim and +30 power, making it the special weapon the slayer masters hint at.

Slayer cave

[edit]

The slayer cave is unlocked for 250 points. The entrance is a tunnel in the mountains, close to where the goblins live and the dark wizards roam, and a

teleport scroll

takes you straight to it. Trying to enter without the unlock tells you to speak to a slayer master first.

Inside the cave you will find:

Fire warrior and shadow giant tasks are only assigned once the cave is unlocked.

Slayer cape

Slayer cape

At level 99 Slayer any slayer master will sell you the Slayer cape for 99,000 coins through the I like your cape option.
