Runecraft is a custom skill found in the Revival Runescape Classic server. It lets you make your own runes by binding rune stones at hidden altars, each of which is reached with the matching talisman. Runecraft is a members skill.

Overview

[edit]

Every rune you craft starts as a rune stone, mined from a single rock in the rune stone mine. Carrying a talisman lets you enter the mysterious ruins for that element and reach the altar inside, where every rune stone in your inventory is bound into runes in one action. Higher Runecraft levels unlock new runes and let you make several runes from each stone.

Getting started

[edit]

Complete the Rune Mysteries quest, started by talking to the Duke of Lumbridge. It has no requirements, takes a few minutes and rewards your first air talisman. Until the quest is complete you cannot enter the ruins, bind runes or use a talisman's Locate option.

You will need a pickaxe to mine rune stones and a chisel to make new talismans.

Rune stones

[edit]

After the quest, both Sedridor in the Wizards' Tower basement and Aubury in his Varrock rune shop will teleport you to the rune stone mine. Sedridor also has a right-click teleport option. The exit portal sends you back to whichever of them brought you.

  • Any pickaxe works and there is no Mining level requirement.
  • The rock never runs out and never fails, and mining fills your inventory in one go.
  • Each rune stone gives 25 Mining experience.
  • Rune stone certificates are worth 5 rune stones each and are exchanged with Mortimer. A rune bag holds up to 50 rune stones.

Talismans

[edit]

A talisman is the key to one altar. Right-click Locate on a talisman to be told which direction its ruins lie in, then simply enter the ruins with the talisman in your inventory.

Your first air talisman comes from Rune Mysteries. Every other talisman is made:

  1. Use a chisel on a rune stone to make an uncharged talisman. This gives 25 Crafting experience and has no level requirement.
  2. Use 10 runes of the element you want on the uncharged talisman. You need the Runecraft level of that altar.

So to make your first mind talisman you need 10 mind runes from elsewhere – after that, the altar keeps you supplied.

Altars

[edit]
Rune Talisman Runecraft level Experience per stone Multiple runes
Air rune
1 25 2 per stone at level 11, then one more every 11 levels, up to 10 at level 99
Mind rune
1 27.5 One more every 14 levels, up to 8 at level 98
Water rune
5 30 One more every 19 levels, up to 6 at level 95
Earth rune
9 32.5 One more at levels 26, 52 and 78
Fire rune
14 35 One more at levels 35 and 70
Body rune
20 37.5 One more at levels 46 and 92
Cosmic rune
27 40 2 per stone from level 59
Chaos rune
35 42.5 2 per stone from level 74
Nature rune
44 45 2 per stone from level 91

Multiple runes are based on your current level, so a runecraft potion can push you over a threshold.

The law, death and blood talismans exist but cannot currently be obtained, so those runes cannot be crafted yet.

Cursed and enfeebled talismans

[edit]

Casting Curse or Enfeeble on a talisman changes what it does at the altar. Both versions are untradeable and are destroyed when used.

Talisman How to make it Level needed Experience Runes made? Cost
Cast Curse (level 19 Magic) on a talisman Altar level + 7 Double Yes The talisman crumbles to dust
Cast Enfeeble (level 73 Magic) on a talisman Altar level + 14 Five times No – the rune stones are lost The talisman explodes for 3 damage and your Runecraft level is drained by 15%

If you carry both, the enfeebled talisman is used. Neither works while wearing a Crown of the artisan.

Enfeebled talismans are the fastest experience in the skill, at the price of making no runes at all.
