Clans let a group of players share a name, a tag and a private chat channel. Clans are free to create, can hold up to 200 members and are managed entirely from the Clan tab of the friends list.

Opening the clan tab

[edit]

Open the friends list and click the Clan tab, which sits between Friends and Ignore.

  • If you are not in a clan you are offered two buttons: Clan Search, to find a clan to join, and Clan Setup, to create your own.
  • If you are in a clan the tab shows your clan's name, tag and leader, followed by the member list. Members who are online are shown in green and those offline in white.

Creating a clan

[edit]

Click Clan Setup, enter a name and a tag, and press Submit. There is no cost and no level requirement – you just cannot already be in a clan.

Rules
Clan name 2 to 16 characters
Clan tag 2 to 5 characters
Both Letters, numbers and spaces only. Neither may already be in use by another clan, as either a name or a tag, and offensive names are rejected.

The player who creates the clan becomes its Owner.

Joining a clan

[edit]

There are two ways to join a clan.

By invitation

[edit]

A member with permission presses Invite Player in the clan window – the owner's button is on the Clan Setup panel – and types your name. They can also type ::claninvite name, using an underscore in place of any space in the name. You must be online.

Important: clan invitations are blocked by default. Before anyone can invite you, open the options menu and click Clan Invitation - Block so that it reads Clan Invitation - Receive. Until you do, the person inviting you is simply told that you have clan invitations blocked.

When you are invited, a window pops up with Accept and Decline buttons. In the Wilderness no window appears, and you must type ::clanaccept instead. Invitations expire after 60 seconds.

By searching

[edit]

Clan Search lists every clan, with a search box. Click a clan to see its details, then press Send Clan Request. If the clan is set to Anyone can join you become a member straight away. Otherwise you are told it is not accepting requests and will need an invitation.

Ranks

[edit]

There are three ranks. New members start with no rank.

Rank Invite players Kick players Change ranks Change settings
Owner Always Always Yes Yes
General If the clan allows General+ or Anyone If the clan allows General+ or Anyone No No
None Only if the clan allows Anyone Only if the clan allows Anyone No No

To change a rank, the owner opens the Clanmates tab of the clan window, selects a member and right-clicks Rank user, choosing None, General or Delegate leadership. The whole clan is told about promotions and demotions.

Changing owner

[edit]
  • Delegate leadership hands the clan to another member after a confirmation. The old owner drops back to no rank.
  • If the owner leaves, ownership passes automatically to the longest-standing member, whatever their rank. Owners who plan to leave should delegate leadership first.
  • The owner can never be kicked.

Clan chat

[edit]

Type ::c followed by your message to talk to your clan:

::c anyone want to do Valkor?

Clan messages appear as [Clan Name] Player: message and are only seen by members of your clan who are online. They are collected in the Clan chat tab at the bottom of the screen, which flashes when a new message arrives. Notices about members joining, leaving and changing rank appear there too.

Clan settings

[edit]

The owner controls three settings from the Clan Setup panel. Right-click a box to change it.

Setting Options Default
Who can kick in clan? Anyone, Owner, General+ Owner
Who can invite into clan? Anyone, Owner, General+ Owner
Accept clan requests? Anyone can join lets players join from Clan Search without an invitation. Invite only and Closed both require an invitation. Invite only

Leaving, kicking and disbanding

[edit]
  • Leave – press Leave Clan on the clan tab and confirm. There is no cooldown before joining or creating another clan.
  • Kick – right-click a member in the clan tab and choose Kick user, or select them in the Clanmates tab and press the Kick user button. Both ask for confirmation.
  • Disband – there is no disband button. A clan is deleted when its last member leaves, so to disband a clan the owner kicks everyone and then leaves.

What being in a clan does

[edit]
  • Your clan tag appears before your name in public chat as [TAG] Name, and before your name in global chat.
  • With the Name and Clan Tag option switched on, tags float beneath the names above players' heads.
  • Clanmates who are online appear as magenta dots on the minimap, slightly larger than other players.
  • The clan tab shows at a glance who is online. Right-click a member to message them or add them as a friend.

Clans are purely social: they do not share experience or loot, and clanmates can still attack each other in the Wilderness. The kills, deaths, clan points and matches shown in the clan window are not currently in use.

Parties

[edit]

A party is a small temporary group of up to 5 players, and is separate from your clan.

  • Forming – right-click a player and choose Invite to party. A party is created automatically, with you as leader. The invited player gets a pop-up, or must type ::partyaccept if they are in the Wilderness or in combat. Invitations expire after 60 seconds, and can be blocked with the Party Invitation option.
  • Party chat – type ::p followed by your message. It appears as [Party] Name: message in orange.
  • Loot sharing – the leader can type ::shareloot to toggle it. While it is on, every member of the party can pick up drops belonging to any other member.
  • Party members appear as blue dots on the minimap.
  • Leaving – type ::leaveparty. If the leader leaves, the next member becomes leader.
  • Ironmen of every kind cannot create, join or be invited to a party.

Commands

[edit]

::c message Send a message to your clan
