Thurvar is an Imcando dwarf and the older brother of Thurgo. He practises the old craft of socketing: carving a slot into a dragon weapon so that it can hold an enchanted slayer gem.
Location
[edit]Barbarian Village.
Services
[edit]Thurvar will only help players who have bought the Dragon weapon socketing unlock (75 points) from a Slayer master. Until then he sends you away to prove yourself. All of his services need level 10 Slayer.
| Service | What he needs | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Socket a weapon | A dragon sword, dragon axe or dragon 2-handed sword, 1 gold bar, 3 redberry pies and Thurvar's enchanted hammer | The weapon with an empty socket. You keep the hammer. |
| Remove an empty socket | The empty socketed weapon, 3 redberry pies and the enchanted hammer | The original weapon |
| Remove a socketed gem | The gem-socketed weapon, 3 redberry pies, the enchanted hammer and Thurvar's enchanted chisel | The empty socketed weapon and the gem, undamaged |
His hammer and chisel were stolen by the goblin thief found just south of the village, who drops both.
Shattering
[edit]Forging or removing a socket can destroy the weapon, along with the gold bar and pies. Thurvar warns you and asks for confirmation first. Removing a gem is always safe.
| Slayer level | Chance to shatter |
|---|---|
| 10–20 | 50% |
| 21–30 | 40% |
| 31–40 | 30% |
| 41–50 | 20% |
| 51–60 | 10% |
| 61+ | Never |
